our program - rawlins main street

Board

Chair: Donna Chappell
The role of the board is to identify and mobilize resources, build volunteer support, develop new leadership and maintain a clear focus on the downtown’s needs and opportunities. The board leads the organization and sets out broad plans of action. They form the backbone of our organization by guiding and participating in the numerous projects completed by the organization’s other various components.

Design

Chair: Charlotte Newell
The role of the design committee is to get the downtown district into top physical shape. The design committee has headed many important revitalization projects. The creation of Main Street Park in a previously weed-covered area and the placement of banners, flowers and benches throughout created a more beautiful downtown for all to enjoy. Building and business owners have financial assistance thru the Paint Program that assists with the cost of paint for worn-down facades. They created, and review all submissions, for the Design Guidelines and are heading up the street construction project in Summer 2013.

Organization

Chair: N/A
The task of the organization committee is to find the resources, both human and financial, needed to run the Main Street program. They also organize the program’s marketing campaign to promote the positive image of downtown. In order to provide better information about downtown and the community in general, they created the comprehensive downtown shopping, dining and parking guide. Volunteer management has been achieved through open-house style recruitment and volunteer appreciation events. The biggest event coordinated by the Organization Committee and numerous other volunteers is the “Passion & Pride Ball,” a formal dinner, dance and auction held annually.

Marketing and Retail Strategies (MARS) (Known as Promotion Nationally)

Chair: Kathy Conway
The role of the MARS committee is to promote a healthy, vibrant downtown area by conducting events for the enhancement of our community. Throughout the year, the promotion committee puts on or assists with events and special promotions. These events bring people downtown so that they become familiar with what is available and to create special shopping opportunities. For a complete list of our events and promotions, please see our events page.

Economic Restructuring

Chair: Robyn Taylor
The task of the economic restructuring committee is to strengthen and broaden downtown Rawlins economic base. They run a small business class every month, focused on both new and existing businesses. They coordinated a complete building inventory of the entire district. They also oversee the Rainbow Teton Entrepreneur Center, a location in downtown Rawlins for new or expanding businesses to help them succeed.
