Why should I support my downtown?

• Downtown Rawlins’ image reflects strongly on the health and prosperity of the entire community – a vibrant, prosperous downtown is an asset in efforts to recruit new residents, new businesses and industries, tourists and others to the community.
• Downtown Rawlins contributes substantially to the city’s tax base.
• Downtown Rawlins has the highest concentration of independent businesses in the community; independent businesses keep profits in town, support community projects, and create a unique “shopping experience” that can be a major tourist attraction.
• Downtown Rawlins is the historic core of the community – its buildings embody Rawlins’ past.
• Retail and services in downtown Rawlins are concentrated in one walkable area, which reduces the need to drive between destinations and uses infrastructure conservatively.
